Distance Learning Airplane Instrument Rating IR(A) Classroom Course

Student requisites

  • Hold an ICAO Airplane Pilot License PPL(A) or an ICAO Airplane Commercial Pilot License CPL(A)
  • 50 hours of cross-country flight time as Pilot in Command (PIC)
  • Class 1 medical certificate

 

Additional requisites

In case of obtaining a Multi Engine Rating also:

  • 70 hours of flight time as Pilot in Command (PIC).

 

Distance Learning theoretical course

Total of 288 hours (262 distance learning, + 26 classroom) (150 minimum).

Subjects

  • Air Law and ATC procedures, Aircraft General Knowledge, Performances, Flight Planning and Monitoring, Human Factors, Meteorology, Radionavigation, Operational Procedures, IFR Communications.
  • Or have the ATPL(A) exams passed.

Note: The IR(A) theory knowledge course is part of the Instrument Flight Procedures Module.

 

Flight training

Holding a PPL(A) License

  • Instrument Rating on Single Engine IR/SE(A).
    • Basic Instrument flight Module: 10 hours instrumental training (5 on SE and 5 on FNPT II Simulator).
    • Instrument Flight Procedures Module: 40 hours instrumental training  (10 on SE and 30 on FNPT II Simulator).
  • Instrument Rating on Multi Engine IR/ME(A).
    • Multi Engine Rating ME(A) If no previous training was made on ME; 6 hours of ME flight training.
    • Basic Instrument flight Module: 10 hours instrumental training (5 on ME and 5 on FNPT II Simulator).
    • Instrument Flight Procedures Module: 45 hours instrumental training  (10 on ME and 35 on FNPT II Simulator).

Holding a CPL(A) License

  • Instrument Rating on Single Engine IR/SE(A).
    • Instrument Flight Procedures Module: 40 hours instrumental training  (10 on SE and 30 on FNPT II Simulator).
  • Instrument Rating on Multi Engine IR/ME(A).
    • Multi Engine Rating ME(A) If no previous training was made on ME; 6 hours of ME flight training.
    • Instrument Flight Procedures Module: 45 hours instrumental training  (10 on ME and 35 on FNPT II Simulator).

If you hold a IR(A)/SE and an ME, to obtain the IR(A)/ME will be 5 hours of instrument training (2 hours on ME and 3 on FNPT II simulator).
