The Aviation English is a key tool for pilots and controllers. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has increased the requirements for language proficiency since March 2008: no controller or pilot may act as such if does not meet at least with the language proficiency requirements of level 4.

Objectives

Among the objectives of the course is to acquire detailed knowledge to speak, read, write and understand at least with the language proficiency requirements of level 6.

Targeted people

The course is addressed to pilots, controllers and flight dispatchers. No experience is necessary and you can learn Aviation English from scratch.

The course takes place online, without timetables and where ever you want.

Official exam

In March 2003, ICAO amended Annex 1 to the Chicago Convention to add the requirement for the use of the language in which it transmits in radiotelephony communications to all aeronautical personnel; Aircraft and helicopter pilots, navigators, flight mechanics and air traffic controllers

Metodology

 

  • Computed Based Training (CBT).
  • The course consists of 4 theoretical modules where it is compulsory completing the activities proposed in each one before to access the next module.
  • Each session is designed so that the daily dedication timeis approximately of 1 hour, taking into account all the possible activities to do: study, exercises, emails, etc.
  • Panamedia has two days a week of tutoring to answer any doubts or questions the students have, via email, phone, fax, etc.

Evaluation

 

The student is going to be evaluated according to the level of compliance and paticipation during the development of the online course, according to the criteria established for this purpose by Panamedia.

Degree

 

  • Certificate of Achievement of the Aviation English Course.
  • Certificate of Participation in the Aviation English Course.

Course fee

The course fee is 575 euros

Required Equipment

For this course it is necessary to have the following equipment:

  • PC with Pentium III or higher with 64MB (Win98) or 128 MB (Windows XP) of RAM
  • To have the following software on your computer:
    • OS Windows 98 or higher.
    • Browser Microsoft Internet Explorer or Google Chrome
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher.

To resolve any technical issues that may arise, the student will contact with the course tutor.

The teaching staff is formed by the course director, a coordinator, an administrator and a supervisor.

Author of Aeronautical English CBTs, Theoretical ATPL (A), Type Rating Courses and Refreshment Courses of MD80, B767, A320, among others.

The coordinator and administrator are the people of reference for the students throughout the course for all non-academic issues. Participants can contact them anytime they need it, either by e-mail or by phone. If it is not active, they can leave their messages on the voicemail.

The Coordinator functions directly related to the students are:

  • To teach how to use the informatic tools.
  • To ensure that all the students have received a complete course documentation.
  • To monitor daily the students participation, checking if they connect and send messages regularly using the Online Teaching Platform.
  • To contact with the students who do not regularly follow the course to find out if there is any problem and try to fix it.

The Administrator functions directly related to the students are:

  • To solve any technical troubleshooting the students have, or put them in touch with the right person, and ensure personalized attention.

The Supervisor functions are:

  • To ensure that the course meets the quality requirements set by Panamedia, by taking care of the:
    • Teaching materials.
    • Virtualization of the teaching materials and course activities.
    • Monitoring progress of the course.
  • Make the final analysis of the development of the course.
